LEMV to be Sold For Scrap?

The US Army has announced that it plans to sell Long-Endurance-Multi-Intelligence Vehicle, (LEMV), possibly for scrap.

There has been considerable media coverage of Hybrid Air Vehicles desire to buy the vehicle and use it for testing and demonstrating the cargo role. Although the LEMV is not optimized for that role (having been designed for surveillance) and would have had a limited payload the operational and engineering data gained would have been highly valuable. The Army wanted $44,000,000 for the vehicle which HAV apparently did not have and offered instead $10,000,000 with installments to follow. The DOD refused the offer and now the LEMV will be sold to the highest bidder which could potentially see it being sold for scrap.
