B-10 Flight control system design for KARI unmanned airship

The overall design architecture of the flight control system for KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) unmanned airship, which is under development by KARI, is introduced including its hardware and software. The main hardware for the flight control system consists of VME-based on-board computers, servo actuators for the rudder, elevators, and thrust vectoring, feedback sensor units including INS/GPS system and airspeed measurement system. The software design architecture is also introduced, which covers automatic/manual flight control and interfaces with the peripheral systems on the platform and ground station. In order to implement autonomous flight for airship, the control laws of airship in the main operational modes such as take-off-landing, cruise flight and station keeping, are suggested and their simulation test results are presented.
