Practical Hints for members preparing an article or page

Access the Create Content section and, depending upn your purpose, choose: -

  • 'a Story' for a news article/magazine contribution.
  • 'Page' for a permanent page on the web-site (Council Members or Authorised users only)
  • 'Members Page' for a submission of a page on the Members' section of the site

Enter the Title, and then move your cursor to the body section.

Type in your story or content.

A story should be written in clear, concise prose, and should be a standalone article in it's own right.  Reference the source if possible, otherwise indicate that it is a rumour or 'unconfirmed report'.   If you have a clean link to another web-site, you can include the link in your story.

Teaser  The teaser is the element of the page that appears on the front page.  You can set the size of the teaser using the teaser icon on the toolbar

Images:  Where possible, stories or pages should include a photograph; click on the Photo Icon of the toolbar at the top of the 'body' window.  This will open a simple file manager, from which you can select an appropriate image, or upload your own photos to the site.  If you upload a photograph/graphic, you give explicit assurance that you have the right to upload that image, and permission for the Airship Association to use that image.

Once you have the image loaded, set the image properties, particularly the size, h-space (set to 12), and alignment (left or right as suits your story).

Where possible, make sure that the photo, if attribuatable, includes the source.

To inset a video from youtube, there are 2 fields enabled, allowing you to put the video at the op of the page, bottom of the page or half-way down.  There is a second text block below the second video, if you wish to use it.

Links to other sites  If you wish to include a link to another page, use the link icon.  Copy and paste your link into the dialogue box that will open, but be careful of your use of links as these can be dangerous.

Scroll to the bottom of the page, and 'Preview' the page; if you are satisfied, 'Submit'.and send an email to press@airship-association.org requesting publication.
